Last week in Savannah was nothing short of inspiring, full of momentum, meaningful conversations, and the kind of progress that reminds us why we love what we do.

A New Chapter in a Historic City

We are officially kicking off a full home renovation and restoration of a 1920s property in Savannah, and the excitement is real. This home, once dark, dated, and long neglected, is about to begin a beautiful transformation. Our vision is rooted in respect for its history while thoughtfully reinforcing and elevating it for modern living.

The goal is not simply to renovate, but to restore and reimagine, strengthening the structure, improving the home’s distribution, and introducing intentional details that will allow this property to stand proudly for decades to come. Every decision is being made with care to preserve key historical elements while creating a safe, functional, and welcoming home for its new owners. We have some truly exciting plans in the works, and this is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we bring this piece of Savannah history back to life.

Honoring History Through Research (From History to Home: An Inspiring Week of Design and Connection in Savannah)

An important part of this journey has been working closely with the Historic Archives team in Savannah to uncover more information about the property. Researching a historic home is always fascinating, and this experience has been especially rewarding.

Kelly from the Archives Office has been an incredible team player, generous with her time, knowledge, and guidance. Her support helped us uncover key original information that is essential to understanding the home’s past and preserving its integrity as we move forward. We are deeply grateful for this collaboration, as it allows us to design with intention, accuracy, and respect for the property’s history.

Building Community Through Design

One of the highlights of the week was finally meeting Khoi Vo, CEO of ASID, in person. It was a pleasure to enjoy a thoughtful conversation around education, the future of the next generation of designers, and the importance of strong, connected ASID communities.

Conversations like these are energizing and reaffirm our belief in collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning within the design industry. Creating community, sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and supporting one another across cities is something we deeply value, and we look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside fellow designers and trade partners.

Inspired by Light and Innovation

No visit would be complete without a stop at one of my all time favorite lighting showrooms, Visual Comfort. No matter how many times I experience their collections, I continuously fall in love with their exceptional design, craftsmanship, and innovative technology.

A standout moment this visit was discovering their wireless table lamps with rechargeable light bulbs, a perfect balance of style, function, and innovation. These pieces are not only beautifully designed, but incredibly practical, offering flexibility and elegance in equal measure. Lighting like this reminds us how thoughtful details can elevate both form and function within a home.

Trusted Partners Make All the Difference

Another special moment was meeting our star Savannah realtor, who played an instrumental role in helping our clients find this incredible property. Thanks to Esther’s guidance, expertise, and deep understanding of the city’s neighborhoods, our clients were able to confidently navigate the market, identify the right area, and close on a truly unique home.

Having a trusted local partner makes all the difference. She is truly our eyes and ears in the city, and we are so grateful to collaborate with someone who brings both professionalism and genuine care to every conversation.

Laying the Groundwork for Success

Last week was also filled with productive meetings with local contractors and city officials. Taking the time to understand Savannah’s local codes, procedures, and permitting processes is essential, especially when working on a historic home. These conversations allow us to create a clear, realistic plan and work schedule that aligns everyone involved.

Our approach is always collaborative. By working closely with city officials, contractors, and consultants from the start, we ensure that the process is smooth, respectful of regulations, and focused on delivering a home that is not only beautiful, but also safe and functional for the homeowners.

Falling More in Love with Savannah

Savannah is a city we visit often, as my daughter attends school here, and with every visit we fall more in love with the people, the food, the architecture, the landscape, and the city’s contagious creative energy. There is something truly special about the atmosphere here, and it continues to inspire us both personally and professionally.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly happy to begin the year with such a meaningful and exciting project and to step into a new professional chapter that brings our team to Savannah. Last week was busy, productive, and deeply fulfilling, setting the tone for what is to come.

I am truly thankful for the people we are meeting and working with in Savannah. The collaboration, generosity, and shared passion have already made this journey special.

This project represents more than a renovation. It represents partnership, preservation, and possibility. We cannot wait to share progress as this home, and our growing presence in Savannah, continues to unfold.
